Meet Miss Colorado High 2012
Logan Marie Torres

When I decided to enter the Miss Colorado High Pageant, my parents encouraged me to set my goal and work towards it independently and to utilize my time preparing as a time of empowerment and growth. And that I did, it was a fun time, but along the way I also had some obstacles to go through. I began to pray every night for help and guidance. Suddenly I knew that this was God’s plan as I started to receive sponsorships and support. By the time pageant weekend began I was so grateful. The power of positivity, faith, and confidence became more and more evident as pageant weekend progressed. With this having been said, my path to the crown has been an amazingly inspiring time for me.
Personally, horses are a big part of my life as I ride, own and train them. I am also a competitive figure skater under Denver Skating Club, and a dedicated honors student, choir member, and Varsity State track sprinter at Heritage High School in Littleton-Go Big Red! Just this fall I hiked my first 14-er, Mount Elbert, with the Heritage Alpine Club! I am also strongly associated with the Ronald McDonald House and love being involved in fundraisers and events. I am a strong believer in the power of education and have been humbled by awards such as the Presidential Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for essay writing, and membership to the Heritage Principle's Advisory committee. Also, the ability to speak publicly, a tool of education and practice combined is one that I have and will continue to strive to use for a positive difference in presentations about foundations and causes I am passionate about. I am a privileged only child to a family that is nothing short of the biggest blessing in my life. The same family that welcomed in the ranch puppy I brought home from a horse auction a year ago without asking or telling...Blue is now my shadow and thinks of himself as my official body guard as Miss Colorado High.
When it came time to turn up the lights, pin on our competition numbers, and finally await the calling of names for awards I had no idea that everything my family and I had been through in the last couple months would be

rewarded. Before every aspect of competition I got down on my knees and had a talk with God, bringing up that my hope for even top 5 would make me more than content. I was shocked, relieved, and honored to tears when I realized what had just been announced- that I suddenly had a crown on my head and a sash around my shoulders. I was the new Miss Colorado High!
As of that unreal moment, my aspirations to attend a reputable college, earn a degree in nutrition, be a role model, and have the opportunity to reach out to my community at a greater distance all came into an unexpected maxim of reality and I have never been so humbled and grateful in my life. What an honor to be representing our beautiful Colorado. My goal is to make the best of this incredible journey that I have been given.
I hope my story inspires you to enter this pageant, remember we go through trials in life, but don’t give up, learn from your past, live for today and hope for tomorrow and who knows you could be the lucky one I crown as Miss Colorado High 2013! If I would have allowed my obstacles to stop me in pursuing my goal, I would not be able to now say that I AM MISS COLORADO HIGH 2012!
